What do 4th of July Events 2019 in San Diego

Art thou ready to celebrate Independence Day in San Diego right?

From local parades to large-scale parties, here are the best 4th of July events in 2019 in SD.

4th of July at San Diego County Fair

4th of July is often the biggest day of the entire San Diego County Fair season – for good reason.

That’s because, in addition to the wide variety of rides, animal experiences, and food, Independence Day the SD County Fair features special events, more live music and, of course, an impressive firework show. Plus, it’s the last day of the fair season.

Side Note: Make sure to look out for seriously insane food combinations, such as:

  • A whole lot of fry action. Deep fried Oreos, kool-aid…
  • Grub like that at “The Heart Attack Cafe”, which involves fried butter – so, there’s that!
  • The Butterscotch bar bonanza

In short, make sure to come super hungry. And ready for multiple sugar rushes. And a massive food coma.

Big Bay Boom Fireworks at the Bay

The fireworks across the bay are the biggest of all San Diego County. In fact, they’re the biggest of all Southern California.

To get the best view, we suggest going to:

  • Shelter Island
  • Harbor Island
  • Marina District
  • The Embarcadero

Hit the Sand for OB Firework Views

There are fireworks off of the OB pier – options on options!

Spend the day at Pacific Beach, Mission Beach or Ocean Beach. Bars and restaurants will be rocking red, white, blue – as will all those in search of refreshing, star bangle-themed cocktails.

Parking will be wild if there’s an attempt to drive so would be good to consider taking an Uber or Lyft.

Then, at night, get ready for the OB fireworks. The view will be best Ocean Beach but – if you’re on Pacific Beach or Mission Beach, you’ll likely be able to look Southward and see the sparkles of light, too.
