Have Your Kids Done These 3 Things Before School Starts?

School is almost back in session; that means it’s time to milk the final days of summer with kids, nieces, nephews – any of the great kiddos in your life really. Here’s are the 3 of the best activities we recommend.

  1. Enjoyed the Magic of Belmont Park

If you haven’t gone to the Hollywood-status San Diego beach boardwalk, Belmont Park, now is the time. Take in the long summer days and evenings – while the kids aren’t in school yet.
Enjoy the classic wooden roller coaster. Try your hand at the arcade games. Tuck into some freakishly unhealthy cotton candy. Oh, and have you visited Tiki Town Adventure Golf, the mini golf course at Belmont Park?

  2. Had a Beach Bonfire

It’s easy for summer to slip by without having snagged your own bonfire pit. Go to Fiesta Island, Crown Point or Mission Bay. It’s hard to beat the magic of roasting marshmallows for s’mores as the sun goes down. (Sigh)

  3. Enjoyed Outdoor FREE Movies in the Park

In summer, there are free movies in parks all across San Diego County, presented by SHARP Rees-Stealy Medical Centers. They happen everywhere from Santee to Ocean Beach, Point Loma up to Carmel Valley.
Here are some of the next movies to look out for that are near Pacific Beach :

  • 8/18 – Finding Dory at Waterfront Park by the San Diego Harbor
  • 8/25 – Finding Dory at Oceanside’s Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre
  • 8/19 – Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory at La Jolla’s La Jolla Community Park
  • 8/26 – Inside Out at Robb Field in Ocean Beach
  • 8/26 – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at North Park’s Morley Field in Balboa Park

The films typically start at dusk, about 15 minutes before sunset.

See the full schedule of free movies, running through October, at this 2017 Summer Movies in the Park page.
