The Perfect, Cheap Valentine’s Day on a Budget in Pacific Beach

Have Valentine’s Day planned? It may be hard to believe, but Valentine’s Day is almost here. If you’re worried about an expensive day of Hallmark cards, red roses and high-price dinners, here are other ideas for an awesome, cheap Valentine’s Day that’s also really special.

Take a Romantic Walk on the Beach

Strolling on the sand is the epitome of romance in every Nicholas Sparks story for a good reason. Not only will it make your honey swoon, you can’t get cheaper than a FREE beach walk.

Geocache with an Adventurous Valentine

Geocache is a worldwide, GPS based scavenger hunt that’ll be an adrenaline-filled (FREE) adventure. Simply go to geocahe.com to find coordinates near you, and start the hunt!

Cruise the Boardwalk by Bicycle

If you already have bicycles, it’s free. If you need to rent them, you can find cheap bike rentals along Mission Boulevard. I recommend starting on the ocean-facing boardwalk and then heading to Mission Bay – the path there is more calm and easier to navigate.

Have a Valentine’s Day Picnic at Kate O Sessions Park

Kate O Sessions Park in Pacific Beach is a hidden gem. Tucked up in the hills of northern PB, it has plenty of grass, trees and gorgeous views. Make a picnic lunch and bring it here for a romantic (low cost) picnic. Make it extra special by packing your significant other’s (or picnic partner’s!) favorite foods and treats.

Have Valentine’s Day Dinner at Sunset

If you and your Valentine would love to do a fancy dinner, do it another night (like the weekend after) when reservations are less crazy and holiday prices aren’t so high. Instead, grab your favorite local food to go. Enjoy it while watching the sunset at Ocean Beach’s Sunset Cliffs or by Crystal Pier (at the end of Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach).
