Park it at the Local Farmer’s Market

A delicious way to eat right and support local produce is by going to your neighborhood farmer’s market. A great one in PB is it’s newest – the Mission Bay High Seaside Farmers Market. It’s hosted every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at Mission Bay High School (2475 Grand Avenue to be exact!)

Though not the largest, this farmers market packs in a lot. They have stands offering fresh fruit and veggies, speciality foods and food trucks for ready-made food. The artisans offer samples of their goods, so you’re guaranteed to go home with product you love.

Some of the favorites? Fresh pita and hummus and a booth specializing in French goods. (I suggest purchasing this booth’s fresh mozzarella infused with herbs and spices. Then, buy a few tomatoes from one of the vegetable stands. Slices of juicy, red tomatoes combined with the melt-in your mouth cheese? One heavenly dish.)

The beach is about 2 miles down the road, but the bay is only a few minutes walk away. Stroll behind the high school’s baseball fields to reach the bay’s De Anza Cove, which has plenty of grass along the water for the perfect picnic.

(Final note: 100% of proceeds go towards benefitting Mission Bay High School.)
