Summer is here – and that means beach volleyball season. Although, let’s be real, beach volleyball happens year round in San Diego. Here are some of the best ways to play volleyball in SD.
Try Out the San Diego Beach Volleyball League (South Mission Beach)
This recreational group (SDBVL) provides adult volleyball opportunities in SD; find group classes, volleyball teams, private lessons and even volleyball clinics. The nice part is that there are options for players of all levels, from beginner to competitive.
Learn more about SDBVL here.
Casual Games at South Mission Beach Courts
Nestled at the end of South Mission Beach, you’ll find several beach volleyball courts. Come with groups to play or play pickup games with fellow beach volleyballers. There is parking located by the courts, but it gets pretty scant on weekends. You can also park along Mission Boulevard or at the lots closer to the Boardwalk. (These are about a mile away but – hey – you can walk along the beach to the courts the whole way. A gorgeous walk.)
Join a Vavi Volleyball League
Signing up for a Vavi volleyball league is an easy way to play beach volleyball in SD. There are a variety of options based on your preferences, such as :
- Beginner beach volleyball in Ocean Beach
- Coed Social Beach Volleyball
- Coed Competitive Beach Volleyball
- Coed Intermediate Beach Volleyball
There are options for weekday evenings or weekends, depending on whatever works best for your schedule. Check out the different group options and, if you see the right one, sign up here.
Attend a San Diego Volleyball Meet Up
Connect with other folks who love volleyball at this Meetup for volleyball lovers. This Intermediate level volleyball group typically meets at Mission Beach at 9 am. Sign up and get more info at the volleyball meetup group page.
